About the knife series
The Alpha series from Güde handles made from finely grained American walnut wood, which are triple-riveted with stainless steel rivets and a distinctive aluminum palm rivet.
Each knife is traditionally hand-forged from a single piece of stainless chrome-vanadium-molybdenum steel, ice-hardened, and sharpened to guarantee optimum hardness of approx. 57–58 HRC and long-lasting sharpness.
Thanks to their full tang and double bolster, the knives are perfectly balanced and offer outstanding ergonomics and safety in handling.
Each piece is the result of numerous precise steps and reflects the highest quality workmanship and traditional Solingen craftsmanship.

Franz Güde has been manufacturing Güde Solingen since 1910. Solingen – now in its fourth generation. Each blade is forged and ground by experienced master blacksmiths and stamped with the characteristic Güde.
The Solingen-based manufacturer combines traditional blacksmithing with state-of-the-art steel technology. Precise craftsmanship and careful selection of materials make every Güde a durable tool with exceptional sharpness.
With a Güde, you hold a piece of German knife craftsmanship in your hands that will last for generations and bring you joy every day when cooking.
The Güde Alpha W464/13Güde embodies Solingen blacksmithing at its finest—traditionally crafted in up to 55 manual steps for uncompromising precision and quality. The hand-forged 13 cm blade made of chrome-vanadium-molybdenum steel remains particularly sharp for a long time thanks to its fine, pointed serrated edge and glides through firm tomato skins as effortlessly as through soft flesh. This ensures perfect slices – without squashing or fraying. The multiple serrated edge also ensures clean cuts with other delicate or firm ingredients, making the knife versatile for use with bread rolls or even baked goods. The ergonomically shaped handle made of American walnut wood, triple riveted, combines timeless elegance with a secure grip – the fine wood fits comfortably in the hand and underlines the exclusive character of the knife. Each knife in the Alpha series is stainless, ice-hardened, and hand-sharpened—a truly unique piece that can last for generations. Treat yourself to professional quality based on tradition and experience a tomato knife that will delight you every day. A must-have for anyone who demands the highest standards of sharpness, design, and craftsmanship when cutting.
Pro tip:
Use the Alpha tomato knife by guiding the fine, pointed serrated blade evenly through the tomato skin with a gentle sawing motion—this will give you perfect, smooth slices without crushing or fraying the soft flesh. For even more precise results, it is best to always place the knife against the skin with the tip and let the blade's own weight do the work.
The Güde Alpha W464/13 Güde impresses with its uncompromising sharpness and is ideal for both classic and creative use.
With its finely serrated blade, you can cut even ripe tomatoes with hard skins precisely and without crushing or fraying them – ideal for preparing perfect tomato slices for fresh salads, caprese or sandwiches. Other delicate vegetables such as peppers or soft fruits such as peaches and kiwis can also be cut easily and cleanly.
Once you've used this knife creatively, you won't want to be without it: the serrated edge is ideal for cutting crispy rolls and juicy baguettes without crushing the baked goods. Even cakes, pies, or small baked goods can be effortlessly cut into even pieces.
The delicate, hand-forged blade also makes the knife ideal for delicate precision work such as decorative cutting of fruit and vegetables for buffets, use at picnics, or preparing snacks on the go.
Thanks to its ergonomic handle made of fine American walnut wood with a unique grain, the knife fits securely and comfortably in your hand—a noticeable difference for anyone who values quality, durability, and genuine craftsmanship.
Whether for classic tomato preparation or creative cutting ideas, with the Güde Alpha Güde you can count on maximum precision and versatility that will enrich your everyday life in the kitchen and make every meal something special.
